The Tufts-Skidmore in Spain program strives to provide the resources, information, guidance and perhaps most importantly, the creative space for students to develop themselves as international doers and thinkers, in the context of a rapidly changing, multicultural society. If you are looking to improve your linguistic skills, to experience and integrate into the richness and variety of Spanish life, and to internationalize your academic experience, then Tufts-Skidmore in Spain may be for you.
Students can choose between our program centers in Madrid and in the nearby, smaller city of Alcalá de Henares; both programs offer full year or fall / spring semester options. Students at both centers enroll in both Program classes and classes at the Autonomous University of Madrid or the University of Alcalá de Henares. Students receive direct Tufts or Skidmore credit for courses taken on the program. The program offers top quality host families, three guided excursions to diverse regions in Spain each semester, a weekly meal stipend, a travel and extracurricular activity stipend, free attendance to cultural sites and events including theater, dance, art exhibitions and concerts, and the possibility of volunteer work and/or internships at prominent international organizations and businesses. The Director and Program staff in both locations offer hands-on attention to all student administrative and personal needs, and take an interest in helping to guide and shape each student’s experience in Spain. The Tufts-Skidmore in Spain program is one of the best resourced study abroad programs in Europe, offering students of all backgrounds a rich opportunity to live and learn in Spain for a semester or full year.
