Spring Break, Last Year
It’s finally Spring break! … in the states. Here in Spain we still have two weeks to go, but the joyful Facebook statuses of my friends reminded me of MY spring break last year. A week in which I ran around Florida with my two best friends while anxiously waiting to hear back from Tufts in Spain. I finally got the email the last couple of days of break and sighed a massive sigh of relief after reading those fateful words of,
“Dear Veronica,
I am pleased to inform you that your application for the Tufts-in-Madrid program at the Autonomous University of Madrid has been approved for the spring semester 2012, pending successful completion of your current semester and the fall 2011 semester as a student in good academic and disciplinary standing and receipt of a satisfactory medical evaluation.”
I would have never guessed that those admission words would change my life almost as much as the similar words I read in my admission letter to Tufts. I would have never guessed that I would spend my next Spring break running around Italy with two girls from Tufts who I’d never spoken to before coming to Madrid. Or that I’d be calling Madrid “my city” while showing it off to friends who’d come to visit.
I am so thankful for this opportunity and so glad I’m able to share it with you! Prospective students, hang tight–you’ll know so so soon! And once you’re accepted into the program, congratulations! Feel free to email me with your questions, comments, concerns–I love this city, this program, and would love to hear from you! Past and current students, you can also send some love our way–we love hearing from you too!
Buena suerte a todos, and we hope to see you in Spain!
