Letter from Program Director: Current Safety Situation in Paris, France

Dear students,

As you have probably heard in the media, there have been attacks in Paris, France that have resulted in many deaths and injuries. Our thoughts are with all those affected by these tragic events. We are monitoring the situation and will provide updates as needed. If you were planning to travel to Paris today, please cancel those plans.

I’d like to reach out to those of you with friends and family who may have been directly impacted and offer our sincerest sympathy and concern for all of their health and safety at this challenging time. Please do not hesitate to contact me directly with any questions or concerns.

As your family and friends may have concerns that you are traveling in Paris this weekend, I would like to ask all of you to please communicate with family and friends at home to let them know that you are OK. Letting everyone back home know that you are safe will help to lessen their fears for your safety at this time.

The US Embassy in Paris has asked American citizens to shelter in place until otherwise instructed, and our student is aware of these instructions. If any of you–other than the student we know about–is in Paris at this time and has not reported in, please get in touch with me asap, and please follow the Embassy’s safety instructions.

You may check for updates about the situation on the travel.state.gov website as well as the US Embassy in France.

I have received news that all of the Tufts in Paris and Skidmore in Paris students are safe and accounted for.

Sincerely,

Susan Sánchez Casal, Program Director
