Is Spain Different? Political and Social Changes since the Transition to Democracy

Josep Lobera, PhD.

Course examines the most relevant aspects of contemporary Spanish society: politics, culture, economy, and social life. Course objective is to provide students with facts, observations and interviews that allow them to have a robust map of Spanish society, going beyond everyday topics. The course offers a vision of Spain by comparing it to surrounding countries, especially those in the European Union. Classes will combine practical work with documentation on the aspects most relevant to current Spanish society, diverse audiovisual materials, interviews with political and social actors and site visits to major political and social institutions.

Each semester two students are given the opportunity to do an internship with professor Lobera. Click here for more information (if you need the password, contact Luis Castilla).
