How did time go by this quickly?!

As I was returning to Madrid from Semana Santa, it dawned on me that I have less than a month before I return to back to California! It was kind of a scary thought because I feel like I still have so many things to do and see. This semester in Madrid has been absolutely amazing and everything I could have wanted in an abroad experience. At the beginning of the semester, I was nervous to speak almost entirely in Spanish and live in a homestay. My Spanish major adviser and I spoke about classes a few weeks back and before I could even mention what classes I was interested in taking, she immediately remarked on how much my spoken Spanish had improved. My host mom Eva and host sisters Alejandra and Carmen made me feel at home and at the end of the semester, I will be so sad to leave my second family. Eva and I will talk about our days over dinner and the girls will introduce me to new songs. Occasionally, Alejandra will ask me for help on her English homework. I was also nervous to meet new people because I only knew a few people before Madrid, but now I will return to Tufts this fall with new friends who I am looking forward to taking on senior year with! I will miss being able to speak in Spanish with everyone as no one in my family speaks it at home. I think it will take me a bit to adjust back to using English full time. Over Semana Santa, I accidentally ordered at a café in Spanish and only after I finished speaking did I remember that I was in Denmark! Over the next few weeks, I am looking forward to spending time in Madrid and soaking up every last bit of study abroad.
